Towering saguaro cactii, the blush of a gorgeous sunset in the blue desert sky, and a crescent moon greeted us as we entered the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, AZ on New Years Eve, 2019.
And the magic and beauty continued unabated over the few hours we spent there. There were luminarias and lights, cacti, both real, and by glass sculptor Dale Chihuly, the glowing creatures of Wild Rising by Cracking Art, made of recycled plastic, live music, food and drink.
Here are some images from that evening.
Glass cactii by Dale Chihuly, and glowing meerkats:
Musicians: mariachi (Mariachi Pasion), carolers (The King's Carolers), handbell ensembles (Phoenix Ringing), Latin American music, and electric violin (Teresa Joy).
And finally, here is a clip from the Apache storytelling and music by Yellow Bird / Duncan Family, who played the flute and guitar after telling a wonderful Native American story.
What a way to bid goodbye to 2019 and welcome the New Year!
